Remember Me

Scripture: Luke 22:19-20
On the night before the cross, Jesus shared a meal with His disciples and said:“Do this in remembrance of me.”
Communion is deeply simple, yet profoundly sacred.
Bread.Cup.Remembering.
In a world full of distraction, communion calls us back to the center of our faith: Jesus gave Himself for us.
The bread reminds us His body was broken.
The cup reminds us His blood was poured out.
Communion anchors us in grace.
That matters because we are forgetful people. We forget God’s goodness. Forget His faithfulness. Forget our dependence on Him. We drift into self-reliance, performance, and spiritual numbness.
Communion interrupts that drift.
It slows us down long enough to remember:
Jesus suffered for us.
Jesus forgives us.
Jesus welcomes us.
Jesus sustains us.
This meal is not about pretending to be spiritually impressive. In fact, communion exposes our need. We come empty-handed. We come dependent. We come aware that salvation was purchased entirely by Christ.
And yet communion is also joyful because the cross was not the end of the story. Jesus is alive. Communion points backward to His sacrifice and forward to His return.
Every time we take communion, we proclaim:
“My hope is still in Jesus.”
Not my performance.
Not my morality.
Not my strength.
Jesus.
