Scripture:

Elijah’s Calling of Elisha

There are seasons in life that feel repetitive. You wake up, do the same work, face the same challenges, and wonder if anything is changing in you at all. Spiritually, it can feel the same way—prayers feel quiet, Scripture feels distant, and growth feels slow.

This is where we meet Elisha. He is not in a temple or on a stage. He is behind a plow, doing ordinary work on ordinary land. Nothing about his current life looks “prophetic.” Yet heaven is watching him in that field.

One of the hardest truths to accept is this: God does some of His deepest forming in the most ordinary seasons. The plow season is not wasted time. It is preparation time. God does not only call people in moments of visibility—He calls them in seasons of faithfulness.

If you feel stuck in repetition, don’t assume you are forgotten. You may actually be being formed.

Ask yourself today: am I resisting the plow season, or letting God shape me in it?
