Your Storm Isn’t Just About You

Scripture: Jonah 1:4–6
When the storm hit, Jonah wasn’t the only one affected.
The sailors—innocent people—were caught in the chaos of his disobedience.
That’s a hard truth we don’t like to hear:
Our choices don’t just affect us.
We live in a culture that says, “As long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else, it’s fine.”
But Scripture tells a different story.
Your obedience impacts others.
And your disobedience does too.
Jonah didn’t even realize he had become a source of danger to the people around him.
And sometimes… neither do we.
The way we live—our attitudes, our decisions, our compromises—spill over into the lives of others.
But here’s the hope: the same is true for obedience.
When you choose to follow God, it doesn’t just change your life—it can change someone else’s too.
Prayer:
God, help me see how my life affects others. Lead me to live in a way that brings life, not harm, to those around me. Amen.
