When Mercy Doesn’t Sit Right

Scripture: Jonah 4:1

Have you ever seen something good happen to someone… and it bothered you?

You didn’t say it out loud—but you felt it:“Why them?”“They don’t deserve that.”“What about me?”

That’s exactly where Jonah finds himself.

God shows mercy to Nineveh—and Jonah is furious.

Not confused.Not disappointed.Angry.

And if we’re honest, that reaction isn’t as foreign as we’d like to think.

Because sometimes, it’s not that we don’t believe in mercy…

We just don’t like who it’s given to.

And that tension reveals something deeper going on in our hearts.

Prayer:

God, show me where I struggle to celebrate Your goodness in others. Help me see what’s really going on in my heart. Amen.
