When Jesus Is Truly Lord

Scripture: Luke 6:46

Jesus once asked a challenging question:

“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”

It’s possible to use the right language about Jesus while still keeping control of our own lives. We can sing about His lordship, talk about His teachings, and attend church regularly — yet resist the parts of our lives where He asks us to change.

But calling Jesus “Lord” means more than acknowledging His identity.

It means surrender.

When Jesus is Lord, our priorities shift. Our words change. Our attitudes begin to reflect His character. Our decisions are guided by His truth rather than our preferences.

Lordship isn’t about perfection — it’s about direction. It’s about choosing, again and again, to follow Jesus even when it’s difficult.

Because if Jesus truly is Lord, then He deserves more than admiration.

He deserves our obedience.

Prayer:

Jesus, help me not only call You Lord but truly follow You. Shape my heart so that my life reflects my devotion to You. Amen.
